Broadband competition entries

The latest entries in this month's Broadband Competition!

With true broadband i could further my studies online through self directed learning and online training and pursue my entrepreneurial aspirations. I would also allow others to do the same with my uncapped broadband connection by allowing my access point to be used by my nieghbourhood.

What Could Africa Do With More Broadband?

IntraHealth International and the IntraHealth OPEN Initiative respond in this video featuring Pape Gaye, IntraHealth International's President and CEO, with music created for the OPEN Initiative by Youssou NDour, Nas and Akronic.

Faster broadband means African ideas and innovation can move faster

It means we can more easily collaborate, educate, train and share

For the IntraHealth OPEN initiative it means more African developers can more effectively use open source technology to help solve the greatest global health issues of our time

"Tell us or show us what you think Africa could use the influx of extra high-speed international broadband capacity for"

I believe this image summarises the most important aspect and the most used feature of large scale networking; the ability to connect with people.

The ability to be with loved ones without having to fly thousands of miles, the look of your newly born babies sleepy face while at the office, Taking an overseas job interview from the safety of your home. These are all realizations possible with the influx of extra high-speed international broadband capacity.

My vision is to enable people with talent. People like William Kamkwamba, The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arD374MFk4w), people that want to uplift their community, people that want to make a change, people that are passionate about life. The greatest element lacking for these talented people is access to proper information - education.

Firstly let's make something clear here I'm from Finland originally, this being an country in Scandinavia/Northern Europe so I come from a very technologically advanced background. We moved to South Africa in 2007.

Its better to teach a man to fish, than to feed him. . .
True Broadband can make a big difference to the way small businesses do business. For most of us, the cost of communication in South Africa is just too expensive. . . .
With Internet being the bloodline for most, this makes it almost impossible for someone trying to start a business.
With Seacom offering us a cheaper and faster form of communication. We, as a nation, will be able to grow. Small businesses would be given the hand they need to open the doors to the rest of the world.
