Broadband Experience Exhibition launches

Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg will this week be a hot spot for bandwidth connectivity, thanks to the Broadband Experience Seacom Exhibition that sees a 155Mbps network link connection to the Internet in London, which will be connected to about 30 computers dedicated for public internet usage.

Today sees SEACOM, together with Cisco Systems, Dimension Data, Microsoft and Neotel launch the week long public exhibition which helps the public understand the benefits of the improved bandwidth delivered by Seacom.

Running from 14 to 18 October in Nelson Mandela Square, the exhibition caters to all members of the public, ranging from school-going children, university students, IT professionals and the general user. Visitors will familiarise themselves with the benefits of high-speed bandwidth and learn more about how it will impact many sectors ranging from healthcare and banking to gaming, home and office products.

SEACOM CEO Brian Herlihy says, “We are positive that the range of applications and services on display at the exhibition will offer everyone an inspiring glance into the future of telecommunications.”

The exhibition's 155Mbps network link to the London Internet provides  capacity which is equal to downloading 15 full length DVDs per hour or connecting two million telephone calls at the same time.

We'll be bringing you some live coverage from the Exhibition this week so stay tuned for more updates. But in the mean time, why don't you stop by for a visit? Exhibition opens daily at 10h00 and closes at 18h00.
